Childcare workers are stepping up their campaign for professional wages by targeting Wayne Swan’s seat in Lilley.
It seems the Treasurer is the main obstacle to a proposal for Federal funding to solve the current crisis in the sector.
United Voice Queensland Secretary Gary Bullock says “If the Treasurer is the one standing in the way of workers getting the wages they deserve then we will do everything we can to change his mind.”
The campaign in Lilley has already seen childcare workers take part in high visibility actions, door knocking and setting up information stalls in local shopping centres.
While they are also collecting signatures for a petition to change Wayne Swan’s mind about childcare funding.
Today they held a protest outside the Treasurer’s office calling on him to support the ‘Big Steps campaign.’
