This year, once again Queensland workers did themselves proud by turning out in force for Labour Day. Right across the state members took to the streets for the traditional march at the beginning of May.
It’s an important day in our calendar as it gives us an opportunity to honour those who worked to secure decent working conditions in the past while also acknowledge our present and future work.
2012 saw one of our highest turnouts ever with thousands of United Voice members marching through the streets. Many were dressed in uniform, holding banners and signs as towns across the state were transformed into a sea of colour and carnival.
The day wasn’t just about showing solidarity with fellow colleagues and friends, it was also very family orientated. Family fun days were organised as part of the festivities with something to cater for all tastes.
