As the Federal Election campaign hits the mid- way mark, it’s quite clear that early childhood education is becoming an important election issue.
Following the $300 million funding for professional wages, announced earlier this year, educators will soon see an increase of between $3-5 per hour in their wages.
It’s what educators across the country have been fighting so hard for but the campaign is not over yet.
Not all early childhood educators received the funding this time around but we’ve lodged a Big Steps case with the Fair Work Commission which will ensure all educators get professional wages.
Just last week the Prime Minister announced $30 million in funding for training educators and other community workers.
Kevin Rudd made the announcement while visiting Amaroo Childcare Centre in Townsville where he spoke to local educators about the Big Steps campaign.
