The Government has finally announced the roll out of a scheme which will mean more hours for Teacher Aides. It’s been a campaign United Voice has been involved with for over six years and is a welcome boost to education. Education Minister John-Paul Langbroek announced details of the initiative earlier which will lead to the equivalent of a full-time Teacher Aide in 600 state school classes over four years. The first phase will be rolled out in schools identified with the greatest need with 2,341 additional Teacher Aide hours a week to be provided next year. It’s an example of the Government making good on one of its pre-election promises by announcing the rollout within its first 100 days in office. The news also reinforces the importance of Teacher Aides to the education sector and the important role they play in students’ lives.
