Early educators are qualified professionals responsible for shaping our children’s future. However, they’re some of the lowest paid professionals in the country.
It’s no coincidence that 97% are women and their pay can be as low as $21 an hour. These wages do not reflect the value of their work or the value of the children for whom they care and educate.
Together with their union United Voice, Early Childhood Educators push for more deserving pay and greater professional recognition through the Big Steps campaign.
The campaign calls on the government to fund every educator with a professional level of pay.
