PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION

ALL QAS Paramedics MUST be registered when regulation starts, or have applied for registration to continue to be able to call themselves and practise as a Paramedic – it’s the Law.

QAS Paramedics applying for registration through the grandparenting pathways MUST also be registered by 1 December 2018, or have applied for registration, to continue to be able to call themselves and practise as a Paramedic.

If you haven’t yet registered, then please make this a priority and get started NOW with your online registration to avoid any processing delays that might occur with a large volume of applications received by AHPRA at the last minute.

In consultation with United Voice, QAS is finalising its policy position for those paramedics who do not apply for registration or are deemed ineligible for registration by AHPRA. This will be advised soon. This is likely to include revised position title, scope of practise and consideration of ongoing supervision requirements for those employees currently acting as Paramedics who do not apply or are unable to register by 1 December.

As a result of advocacy on behalf of United Voice members, the $190 application fee will be reimbursed to QAS paramedics for applications made before 1 December 2018. You will need to provide evidence of application prior to 1 December in order for this reimbursement to be processed. Details on QAS Portal.

For those still needing to apply and who may have recently joined the Union or have misplaced their copy of the Certificate of Currency for Professional Indemnity Insurance required under registration. You are required to acknowledge you have adequate insurance in place as part of the application process. All financial members of United Voice have adequate professional indemnity insurance as part of their membership of the Union.

Contact your United Voice State Council Delegate, the Union office, LASN Manager or QAS Registration Implementation Team at QAS.RegistrationImplementation@ambulance.qld.gov.au to provide you with any support required to ensure you apply for registration before 1 December 2018.
