To help paramedics get ready for regulation and prepare for the following the opening of applications for paramedic registration on 3 September 2018, the Paramedicine Board of Australia (ParaBA) will be holding a series of stakeholder forums across the country in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

The first major public event will be in Melbourne on Monday 23 July 2018.

While attendance is free for those who can be at the events, you will need to register for these events.  The Melbourne and Sydney Events will be streamed live and recorded for later viewing.

The Brisbane public event will be held on Thursday 20 September 2018.
Registrations can be made via the Paramedicine Board of Australia website closer to the date.

The ParaBA want to make sure that current, future and past paramedics know about national registration and in the near future, what they will have to do to register.  Sign up for future updates.

Applications for Registration OPEN from 3 September 2018

To help paramedics get ready for national regulation later this year, the Paramedicine Board of Australia (ParaBA) is pleased to announce the start date for the receipt of applications for paramedic registration .

This means, regardless of where you are based, you will be able to apply to register via an online application portal from 9am AEST on Monday 3 September 2018.

The ParaBA’s decision to start receiving and processing applications for registration in September is to give the paramedics in the profession as much time as possible to complete their applications well ahead of regulation taking effect on the commencement (participation) day.

To be able to continue to practise the paramedicine profession in Australia, all paramedics will need to be registered or have applied for registration with the Board before regulation takes effect later this year.

Application & registration fee for paramedic registration

The national fees for paramedic registration, will include a one-time application fee of $190 and an annual registration fee of $275. The same fees will apply to paramedics in all states and territories.

Regulating paramedicine

Under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (National Law), from the commencement (participation) day, paramedics must be registered with the ParaBA and meet the registration standards in order to practise in Australia.

Your registration will be recognised in all the states and territories of Australia and your name will be included on a public register of practitioners which is managed by AHPRA.

From late 2018 you will not be able to call yourself a paramedic (or hold yourself out to be a paramedic) if you are not registered with the Board, as it will be a title protected under the National Law.

The ParaBA want to make sure that current, future and past paramedics know about national registration and in the near future, what they will have to do to register.  Sign up for future updates.
