School Cleaner Enterprise Bargaining - Notice of Ballot Authorising Industrial Action

School Cleaner and Teacher Aide Network meetings being held across the state are endorsing support for taking industrial action if the Department continues to reject the key improvements being sought in enterprise bargaining negotiations.

To date, the Department has rejected your claims around improved ADO, immediate relief, career progression and first aid training for all school cleaners. They are considering proposals for regional adviser roles and Cert III training. Also the department wants to implement a new span of ordinary hours for all cleaners between 4:00am and 9:00pm.

Given the strong show of support from school cleaners to stand up and fight for improvements and no backward step on working hours, we will be undertaking a formal ballot of all school cleaner members commencing on Wednesday, 22 August 2018.  This electronic ballot is a formal step that is required under the Industrial Relations Act where you will be asked to approve a range of possible actions.

Getting a broad range of actions approved by ballot means we will have lots of options should it become necessary to take industrial action after your agreement expires on Friday, 31 August 2018.

The ballot will open on Wednesday, 22 August 2018 and will close on Wednesday, 29 August 2018. Keep an eye out for an SMS with the link through to the ballot form.  All United Voice school cleaners need to vote in this ballot.
